Compassionate, personalized care for Oregonians and Montanans by

Dr. Nick Hong

"Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional" — Haruki Murakami

It can be daunting to start therapy, or look into finding the right therapist. You have options but with whom would you be a good fit? Your health or the health of your loved one is so important that it makes sense to start right. Most clients are nervous when they first come in. I, too, care about the contentment you wish to find.

Your job is to come in and be yourself; mine is to listen intently and tune in to your specific needs, so that we can together develop ways to hold and handle the challenges that led you here. My approach is collaborative, active, and pragmatic, as I deeply value strategies that are rooted in the science of clinical psychology. For over 25 years, I have worked in a variety of settings with teenagers and adults with ADHD, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, stress, poor self-esteem, interpersonal conflict, and lack of contentment in life.

It can be overwhelming to decide whom to call. Just start. Call and ask questions. Please take some time to browse my website, and see if I might be able to assist you. If it would help you to first talk by phone, I would be glad to provide a free, 15-minute consultation.

COPING WITH CORONAVIRUS & TELEHEALTH

The pandemic has impacted the emotional and psychological well-being of us all. Some people have been more isolated from their family and friends; others have struggled with being around family more. There are ways to cope with too much togetherness at home, as individuals and families embrace a mental shift and a new way of living that begins with building relational connectedness. Take this time that you have to seek therapy (perhaps this is why you are on this site).

Know that we have the capacity to provide therapy through phone- or video-conferencing (telehealth) without  you having to leave home. Many insurance plans cover telehealth; in fact, the US Department of Health and Human Services and insurance companies have during the pandemic made efforts to increase access to telehealth.  Telehealth has been shown to be as effective as face-to-face therapy; a review of 148 studies concluded that the use of videoconferencing for mental health services showed client and provider satisfaction, as well as positive clinical outcomes. We use safe, HIPAA-compliant, secure video-conferencing platforms, and follow the guidelines put forth by the American Psychological Association. Please continue to explore this website and let's find you help, whether here or with another provider.
